3D printing in freezing conditions is difficult at the best of times! But add to that no source of mains power and now you've got yourself a challenge! I teamed up with @QIDITech to challenge their Q2 3D printer in the Australian snowfields. It was cold and wet, but the adventure was worth it! For something that's supposed to blow, off the shelf leaf blowers kind of suck. So I decided to build my own using a jet unit designed for an RC plane. I designed the blower in CAD and built it from 3D printed and carbon fibre parts. It's now my new favourite garden tool! CAD design was done in Fusion (designs available on Patreon). 3D printing was done on a Bambu Lab X-1 Carbon. Shot on Canon R6 Mark II, Insta360 action cam and DJI Mini. Soundtrack by Imuno. While certainly delicious and nutritious, regular fruit is a little boring. I decided to sweeten things up a little by moulding fruit into shapes of my own creation. Using CAD design, 3D printing and vacuum forming to get the job done, I created some super-shaped fruit over four seasons in my own backyard. The Australian made Popball was my favourite toy when I was a young kid. A simple rubber 'half-ball' style toy that uses its own stored kinetic energy to launch itself into the air. These simple toys have been around for a long time and you can still buy them today. But the Popball that I remember was far more powerful than the newer ones! And that led to it being banned across schools - and I was never really sure why. Now, 35 years later, I wanted to get to the bottom of the urban myths and recreate the toy using materials and processes like 3D printing, mould making and even using unusual materials like carbon black. A little while ago I modified an iRobot Roomba 630 into a high speed radio controlled vehicle. It was fun and fast, but there were quite a few design flaws that made it difficult to drive. In this video, I'm fixing up some of those issues by 3D printing stronger parts, adding aero and fitting some different electronics.
